Self-Compassion: Caring for the Carer. One Day Workshop.

With Mara Elwood and Anna Friis

$300 (lunch and two tea breaks included), St. Francis Retreat Centre, Auckland

Self-compassion is not just self-care and neither is it a sign of weakness or self-indulgence. It is a potent practise that enables us to stay afloat when life is difficult, to flourish and be happy in spite of life’s inevitable challenges. For those working in caregiving roles on any level - or at the frontlines of health care in New Zealand, self-compassion is a state of being that helps us to care for others while at the same time caring for ourselves; an evidence-based buffer against burn-out and empathic distress.
Anna and Mara will show how self-compassion helps us to know what we need, and to maintain equilibrium and warm-hearted connection with ourselves and others, whatever life’s circumstance. Come and enjoy a day of practise and space, learn new skills, and reconnect with yourself in the beautiful environ of the St Francis Retreat Centre, Hillsborough, Auckland.
Morning and Afternoon teas and lunch included: This workshop is also suitable for the general public as well as to practising health professionals. There is accommodation available at the Retreat Centre for those wishing to stay overnight. Contact St Francis directly. Registration is through Anna's website, please click the button below.

Online Circles of Practice

For past MSC class graduates only.

Circles of Practice s an online community offered by the Center for MSC.  The teachers that lead he circles donate their time, and the Center asks for a donation from anyone attending at their own discretion.  The circle I am part of leading happens weekly on Tuesday nights. The time will change with our Daylight savings time, but in Winter the time is 7:30-8:30 pm and in Summer it will be 8:30-9:30 pm.  You will need to apply at the Center for MSC and will then receive an email with instructions on how to join in.  Please contact me if you have problems with this.  You will need the Zoom Online Conferencing platform downloaded to the Computer or Ipad you will be using to attend.
